Overview
SaaS Web Apps was approached by the top coaching agency, Premier Stinson Sports, to develop a Sports Contract Management System to be used by their firm in partnership with USA Today and the National Sports Law Institute at Marquette University Law School for collecting, analyzing and recording college coach and athletic directors' employment contract data.  Each partner had unique requirements as well as common ones in the usage of the system.

USA Today uses the system to provide their readers with the most comprehensive and up to date compensation analysis in order to keep true to their award-winning record of providing cutting edge news analysis.
Premier Stinson Sports uses the system in their daily practice to enable them to do in-depth competitive analysis and provide their clients the best possible representation in contract negotiations based on the most current compensation analysis.
The National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School uses the system not only to assist with entry of the latest sports contract data but to provide their students the opportunity to view and analyze the latest sports contract data which provides them with the knowledge and expertise that further enhances their attractiveness to sports industry employers.

Business Needs
Premier Stinson Sports needed a Sports Contract Management System that would provide them the ability to collaborate with their partners, USA Today and Marquette University Law School, as well as provide them with an advanced analysis and reporting engine to meet their own needs as well as their clients and partners needs.

Given the sensitivity of the data the system needed to be secure and user security and permissions needed to be easily configurable.  The security needed to be role based and allow any user to access specific functionality based on their role or their specific user permissions.

Since the users would be accessing the system from various locations on various operating systems throughout the country it needed to be accessible from any location over the internet and able to run on the mainstream computing platforms.

Performance was key and the application needed to be able perform well both client side and server side without the client side lag that is typical of many AJAX based web solutions.  With the reporting and analytical capabilities that were required, much of the processing needed to be done server side on a dedicated server but the application still needed to maintain the richness and responsiveness of a desktop application.

The Solution
After evaluation of the available toolsets on the market to build dynamic websites, SaaS Web Apps chose the ASP.Net based Visual WebGui. “Finding the right development platform that would provide our clients with the ease of deployment, scalability and availability that you get with a web application as well as the performance and security of a desktop application that would be able to handle thousands of contracts and many users became a ‘no-brainer’ when we discovered Visual WebGui,” said Owner Mike Penn.
